Male's Water Supply and Sanitation System

Because there are no rivers or streams in the Maldives, it has been a challenge to find freshwater sources. The information here shows not only what the Male Water and Sewerage Company has done to overcome that issue, but also provides facts and figures on the Male water system. Source water is pumped from the sea via 50-metre-deep bore wells and desalinated at reverse osmosis plants.
