Study: Going Green Costs Spain Jobs

Although numerous policymakers in Washington foretell win/win scenarios yielding both emissions-free energy and stimulus for a flagging economy, academic analysis from a European country further down that path suggests publicly subsidized alternative energy destroys more than twice as many jobs as it creates.rnThe Institute for Energy Research is pointing to a study released in Spain this spring that concludes every "green job" created by the Spanish government during the past decade killed 2.2 other jobs.rnIER President Thomas J. Pyle pointed to the report by Dr. Gabriel Calzada of Juan Carlos University in Madrid at the end of March when the U.S. House of Representatives was convening to "examine green jobs and their role in our nation's economic recovery."
