In the wake of the recent conflict in the Lebanon, many engineers considering working in the Middle East could be forgiven for thinking twice about venturing out into the region. With events in Lebanon seemingly making the area more unstable, and the media full of horror stories, such as the beheading of American engineer Paul Marshall Johnson by Al-Qaeda militants in Saudi Arabia two years ago, it might seem that many engineers would vote with their feet and stay at home.
