Survey of five indigenous Istrian cultivars for the presence of six grape viruses.

Five commercially important indigenous grapevine (Vitis vinifera) cultivars (Jarbola, Borgonja, Teran, Harvatica and Muscat Rose of Pore) were surveyed for the presence of virus and virus-like diseases during collection, clonal selection, and grapevine genotyping in Istria, Croatia. Six viruses were analysed by ELISA: grapevine fanleaf virus, grapevine fleck virus (GFkV), Arabis mosaic virus (ArMV), grapevine virus A (GVA), and grapevine leafroll-associated virus 1 and 3 (GLRaV-1 and GLRaV-3). All viruses except ArMV were detected, and one cultivar was 100% infected by GLRaV-3. Mixed infections, most frequently by GFkV and GLRaV-3, were also identified.
