摘要

Gender differences in promotion within the economics profession have long been a concern of the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP). In a descriptive analysis of the AEA Universal Academic questionnaire, Rebecca Blank (1996) finds that hires and Promotions to the associate- and full- Professor levels have averaged 4.2 and 2.7 Percentage points below the share of female Assistant and associates professors, respec- Tively. Thus, women appear to be underre- Presented in senior positions, suggesting They may face a "glass ceiling."
