Feasibility of using cordierite glass-ceramics as tile glazes

Basic principles of fabricating tile glazes based on cordi- eritic glass-ceramics are explained. Glass compositions from the MgO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2 three-component phase dia- gram have been melted with and without the uncleating agent TiO_2. Additionally, a sodium borosilicate glass that is commonly used in the tile glaze industry has been wet milled, together with the previous compositions, to produce a coating slip.
