We have used magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic reso- nance (MAS NMR) and Raman spectroscopy to examine the polyhedral arrangements in ternary lanthanum alumi- noborate glasses. We have characterized two glass-forming seres: xAl_2O_3.(1-x)LaB_3O_6 and 0.25La_2O_3.yAl_2O_3.(1-y)- B_2O_3. ~11B MAS NMR reveals a decrease in the fraction of Four-coordinated boron atoms with increases in the Al_2O_3 Content in both series.
