Environmental, technological and cost advantages make aqueous electrophoretic deposition (EPD) feasible for manufacturing advanced ceramic parts or coatings. Hostile environments drive researchers' growing interest in combining the properties of a substrate with those of a coating. Protective coatings increase the capabilities of known materials by supplying them new surface properties. Some of the most contemporary research lines are oriented in this direction: 1. Laminated materials; 2. Functionally graded materials (FGM); 3. Methods for thin and thick films; 4. Deposition techniques, etc.
