Frost Resistance of Brick

Current R&D in Europe in brick making is focused primarily on improving the thermal insulating properties of brick products. Attention also is being given to frost resistance of the brick body. Previous R&D indicates that determination of the frost resistance of the brick body is a relatively complicated problem. The situation is complicated by the many various methods used to determine frost resistance. These methods can be divided essentially into two groups: direct methods and indirect methods. The direct frost-resistance test is based on the direct freezing of samples, after which the change of one or more parameters oi the brick body is evaluated.
