Surfactants: A Necessity for Producing Porous Ceramics

Adding adequate surfactants generates foam in aqueous ceramic slurry. Nonionic surfactants are the best for the production of ceramic foams.rnThe gelcasting process is used for the production of near-net-shape ceramic materials. The process was developed for the fabrication of dense bodies. The process later was modified to produce porous ceramics by previous foaming of ceramic suspensions.
