The future and past of Bogota's Aeropuerto International Eldorado (IATA: BOG) lie only a few meters apart: on the right stands a magnificent, expansive, well-lit, mega-terminal; on the left is an ancient, much-too-short radar tower. Both are part of the reality at this airport. The new terminal, with a floor space area of 90,000m2 (22ac), was finished recently after two-and-a-half years of construction, and cost almost half a billion dollars. By the end of 2012 at the latest, all international passenger flights will be handled here.
