At the Paris Airshow Sandvik Coromant introduced an Aerospace Engine Solutions Package containing a number of new and existing products designed to offer a complete solution and genuine productivity benefits to a number of typical aerospace engine industry applications:rn1. Turbine discs are complex turned parts that generally feature profiled pockets with various difficult clearance requirements. New CoroCut angled inserts from Sandvik Coromant are said to provide a complete and stable grooving solution for turbine disc machining. They claim optimum accessibility and the latest aerospace grade GC1115 for machining typical turbine disc materials such as Inconel 718, Waspaloy, and Udimet 720. GC1115 are said to offer increased uptime machining due to a unique PVD coating that maintains sharp edges over a longer time in cut. The modular SL70 tooling system with blades designed to fit typical profiles and pocket features, the exchangeable head CoroMill 316 for scallop milling and CoroCut inserts in grade S05F for high productivity turning complete the Sandvik Coromant package for machining turbine discs.
