There is new evidence emerging about the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids and eye health. Research suggests that omega-3s may play a role in protecting against age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It is believed that omega-3s modulate the extent of processes involved in the development of AMD, such as preventing the formation of new blood vessels in advanced AMD, reducing inflammation and protecting against cell death.
