Eight years after the Vought V-173 arrived in Grand Prairie, Texas, in 2003, Vought Aircraft Heritage Foundation volunteers completed their restoration of the 1940s-era circular-wing testbed. On loan from the National Air and Space Museum, the aircraft, nicknamed the Flying Pancake, will be displayed at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas for at least 10 years, then returned to the Smithsonian.
