On October 9 AgustaWesttand announced that two AW139s had been ordered by its Japanese distributor, Mitsui Bussan Aerospace, on behalf of the Japan National Police Agency. The helicopters will be used for law enforcement missions in the Toyama and Osaka Prefectures from 2014. Eleven AW139s have been ordered for law enforcement agencies in Japan. Japanese company ITC-Aerospace Inc has ordered a pair of AgustaWestland AW169s. The helicopters will be leased to private operators and are the first ordered for the Japanese market. The contract was signed on October 10 by ITC's President and Chief Executive Officer, Tomoo Nakayam, at Japan Aerospace 2012 held at Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture. More than 70 AW169s have been ordered and the type is expected to be certified in 2014.
