Final Phantom for Drone Programme Departs Davis-Monthan

BAE Systems has received its final McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom due to be converted as a QF-4 Full-Scale Aerial Target (FSAT) for the US Air Force. On April 17 RF-4C 68-0599 departed Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona - where it had been stored since January 18, 1989 - for Mojave in California, where it will be modified. A total of 316 F-4s have been removed from storage with the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group to support the FSAT programme and BAE Systems delivered the 300th QF-4 in late 2012 (see QF-4 Production Winding Down, January, p11).
