Although Lufthansa plans to begin low-fare services to long-haul leisure destinations in autumn 2015, the German carrier now says it may launch a second low-cost, long-haul operation within weeks of that, but using twin-engine A330-200s. In New York, Karl Ulrich Garnadt - who was promoted to become CEO of Lufthansa German Airlines on May 1, after three years as CEO of Lufthansa Cargo - said his airline expects to submit a business plan for a second new low-cost, long-haul carrier to the group's supervisory board by December.
