Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has announced what it is calling "a comprehensive overhaul" to restore profitability that involves network changes and job cuts. MAS lost MYR307 million ($96 million) in the three months to June, and its management has warned of further poor financial figures as consumer confidence was affected by two high-profile disasters earlier this year. In March flight MH370 disappeared with 239 people aboard (see Mystery Surrounds Disappearance of Flight MH370, April, p4) and in July MH17 was shot down over Ukraine with 298 passengers and crew (see MH17 Shoot Down Prompts ICAO to Launch Safety Task Force, September, p27).
