Six Boeing 737 AEW&C aircraft are due to enter servlce with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) before the end of the decade, and the first intended for in-country conversion arrived recently. In addition to the RAAF, which is the launch customer, Turkey is acquiring four 737 AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) aircraft, with options for two more, under the Peace Eagle programme. The 737 AEW&C is also on South Korea's EX programme shortlist and, judging from the other contenders, it is the strongest player in that bid. The MESA (Multi-role Electronically Scanned Array antenna) phased array radar on the 737 AEW&C is the most likely system to be used on the US Air Force E-10 MC2A AWACS sub-type, if this goes ahead.
