First Dhruvs Handed Over To Ecuador

Hal handed over five Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) to the chief of the Fuerza Aerea Ecuatoriana (Ecuadorian Air Force) in a ceremony held during Aero India 2009. The show was held at Yelahanka Air Force Station outside Bangalore, between February 11 and 15. A further two Dhruvs will be delivered within six months.rnHAL will send the Dhruvs to Ecuador as air freight in a leased Antonov An-124 Ruslan, as this will involve a minimum of preparation prior to shipment (i.e. only the rotor blades will have to be removed). A HAL team will remain in the country for up to two years after delivery tornmaintain the helicopters and teach Ecuadorian air force maintenance personnel how to care for them.
