Lufthansa Group Orders Airbus and Embraer Airliners

On September 22 the Lufthansa Group's Supervisory Board announced that it had approved orders for 48 airliners for its constituent airlines. The bulk of the orders where placed with Airbus the following day. The Lufthansa Group ordered 40 airliners worth approximately $4.3 billion. The contract covers 19 A320s, one A321 and three A330-300s for Lufthansa; two A320s, two A321s and five A330-300s for Swiss International Air Lines; and eight A319s for Germanwings. The A330-300s will all be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700s and are due to enter service from 2012.
