Helvetic Enters the E2

SWISS CARRIER Helvetic Airways has became the second European operator of the latest-generation Embraer E-Jet after receiving its initial E190-E2. The delivery marks the start of a fleet renewal programme at the carrier, which holds purchase rights for a further 12 aircraft, with conversion rights to the E195-E2. The re-engined E-Jet will become a more familiar sight in Europe, with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines having signed an 'intent to purchase' agreement with Embraer for 35 E195-E2s. The introduction follows the final F100 service for Helvetic, which took place in June 2019 and involved HB-JVG (c 11478). The example began its life in 1993 with American Airlines as N1458H before joining the Zuerich-based firm's fleet in 2004 as part of its initial round of expansion.
