Fuji Heavy Industries has been chosen to develop the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces' next-generation UH-X multipurpose helicopter. Its selection was announced on July 17 by the Japanese Ministry of Defence. Fuji will partner with Bell Helicopter Textron to develop a commercial design to meet JGSDF needs. A total of 150 UH-Xs will be acquired over the next 20 years and the project will launch in the current Japanese fiscal year.
