To all who see this, greetings from Madison Chapter 161 in beautiful snowy Wisconsin! We are a small chapter, of about twenty members or so, but we are mighty! We owe our success to our hard working, dedicated, and loyal members. Without them, we would be nowhere. We are always striving to grow our chapter and put AFE at the forefront. We accomplish these goals in several ways. The first, our monthly tours and meetings. Our touring season is broken up into two periods throughout the year, from January to April and September to November. Typically, we have our chapter meetings as post-tour dining sessions. These tours/meetings have had attendances range between fifteen to twenty members, which is a great turnout considering the size of our chapter. Along with other projects in the area, we enjoy tours of our fellow AFE member's work projects. These tours give us exposure to the latest, cutting-edge technologies in construction, HVAC, lighting, and much more. It's a great learning experience to see how the "other guy does it". We have toured various projects ranging from "cost is no object" projects, like Epic Systems in Verona, Wl, to some very well-done value engineering projects, like the Sylvee Entertainment Complex in Madison, WI. Lately, there has been an explosion of distilleries and breweries in the Madison area. AFE 161 has taken full advantage of this boom by touring them. Sampling the wares along with some good eats is always a fantastic time! To this day, some of our favorite tours have been at the distilleries and breweries. There is never a shortage of members wanting to tour those! With the economy booming and projects going like wildfires, for our members, busy has been a good thing after some pretty lean years in the past. These tours would not be possible without the hardwork of out VP, David Wendt.
