Airbus continues A340-500/-600 flight testing

Flight testing of the first A340-600 continued throughout the month of June, with the aircraft exploring the flight envelope from high speed down to stalling speeds. In addition to flight demonstrations performed at the Paris Le Bourget Airshow, the aircraft/Underwent verification of its aerodynamic and load characteristics as well as initial engine and systems tests. The next flight-testing phase involves trials at the aircraft's maximum takeoff weight of 365 tonnes. The comprehensive test program will involve three aircraft and 1600 flight hours, with certification and entry into service occurring in mid-2002.
