SAE: the home for electrical/electronics engineers

When I started at SAE 30 years ago, one of the first books I worked on was SP-388, a tutorial on automotive electronics. As you can imagine, back then electronics in all vehicles—whether air or ground—were very basic. Today, electronics are found in nearly all aircraft systems, including the propulsion and landing gear systems, and also in safety features such as de-icing, stability and control enhancements, and brakes. This growing use of electronics has increased the need for electrical/electronics ("E/E") engineers working in the aerospace industry. This applies in the other industries SAE serves, especially automotive.
