AIR FORCE engineer's expertise critical to GPS satellite systems

There's no room for error — it has to be right every time. As a test engineer, Air Force 2nd Lt. Ryan Yeager's computer software expertise is critical to the multi-million dollar satellite systems program at Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif. Located in El Segundo, the base is home of the Space and Missile Systems Center. The 24-year-old officer works for the U.S. space program at the Navstar GPS Joint Program Office (GPS JPO). The GPS JPO develops and produces GPS satellites, ground systems and military user equipment. Recognized as the world's premier space-based positioning and navigation system, GPS satellites circle the earth every 12 hours emitting continuous navigation signals for military and civilian use.
