Phoenix to examine Martian ice, dust, and more

NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander, designed and built by Lockheed Martin, was successfully launched in August from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station aboard a Delta II rocket provided by United Launch Alliance. Phoenix, the first mission of NASA's Mars Scout Program, will study frozen layers of water below the Mars surface. It will travel 422 million mi over about nine and a half months, and is scheduled to arrive at Mars in May of 2008.
