One company has been around for decades. The other is a start-up. One is building a jet mostly of aluminum, a traditional material. The other is using composites, a newer type.rnOne has an oversize library of engineering knowledge and experience. The other has a compilation of engineering learning that fills a few shelves.rnBut there is no definitive aerospace literature that says one can and the other cannot achieve success in developing and bringing to market a very light jet (VLJ). It is much too early in the game to know whether industry stalwart Cessna will enjoy greater success in the VLJ arena than relative newcomer Adam Aircraft.
