Victor hops at Brunty

Almost 15 years after it flew into retirement at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire, Handley Page Victor K.2 XM715 inadvertently became airborne again during a fast-taxying run at the airfield 's Cold War Jets (CWJ) Open Day on May 3. A source close to the CWJ reportsrnthat the starboard wing lifted in a crosswind, taking the V-bomber well to the left of the runway as it became airborne. The former RAF tanker is estimated to have climbed to about 40ft while the high-time ex-RAF Victor pilot in the left-hand seat got it straight again for a landing back on Brunty's two-mile-long runway.
