Newark Harvard underway

In the workshops of the Newark Air Museum atWinthorpe, Nottinghamshire, the in-depth restoration of North American Harvard MB, 42-12417, is now well underway, the starboard fuel tank access panel and the fuel tank having recently been removed to provide improved access for work to be completed on the starboard wingjointarea. Work is now also being undertaken on a cosmetic restoration of the Pratt and Whitney 1340-engine, and areas of corrosion on the airframe are being treated and repairs effected. Several layers of paint have been carefully removed from the fuselage exposing various sets of markings, reminders of its time in service with the Royal Canadian Air Force, with whom it wore the serial FE930, and the Dutch Air Force, where it flewwith the identity B-163.
