Use Visual FoxPro to Call .NET Web Services for Data Access

Using Web services from Visual FoxPro isn't difficult, but dealing with data or complex objects isn't quite as straightforward as it could be. In this article, I build a foundation for learning how to pass complex data between VFP and .NET using .NET Web services. In a future article I'll show you how to handle various scenarios for updating data between VFP and .NET. Accessing Web services from Visual FoxPro is nothing new. But effectively leveraging Web services and interacting with them-particularly when you're dealing with .NET-requires a more complete understanding of the mechanics and the tools available to you. It involves much more than merely creating the service and firing off method calls.
