Give Your FoxPro Application a Makeover

A client recently asked for my help redesigning his application's user interface. This was a large, multi-module financial system that had grown—with no proper planning—over several years. The existing interface was as bad as any I've seen. It was inflexible, difficult to navigate, and visually unappealing. Working on the theory that whatever changes I made could only be an improvement, I accepted the assignment. I eventually created a much better interface for the application, but it took longer than I expected and involved several false starts. In this article, I describe the problems I encountered, the decisions I made, and some mistakes along the way in the hope that you might learn from them.
