A woven fabric (Dymetrol) has been developed by imeco GmbH & Co KG as a suspension system for passenger seats on commercial aeroplanes. The company of Hosbach, Germany, says Dymetrol helps to reduce the weight, cost and assembly time for a seat, without compromising on the design flexibility or the passenger's comfort. The fabric employs polyester (PES) yarns in the warp and elastic yarns in the weft. The elastic yarns are made from a thermoplastic elastomer (Hytrel from DuPont of Wilmington, Delaware, USA). DuPont claims Hytrel combines the flexibility of rubber with the strength and durability of a thermoplastic.
