摘要

This special issue includes extended, reviewed and revised papers originally presented at The First International Conference on Parallel, Distributed and Grid Computing for Engineering (PARENG 2009) held at the Pollack Mihaly Faculty of Engineering, University of Pecs, Hungary, 6-8 April, 2009. Dr. Pedro Coelho was awarded the Young Researcher Best Paper Prize for the first paper in this special issue entitled "Parallel Computing Techniques Applied to the Simultaneous Design of Structure and Material" written with colleagues, J.B. Cardoso, P.R. Fernandes and H.C. Rodrigues.
