Special Issue Dedicated to Professor Zdenek Bittnar on the Occasion of his Seventieth Birthday: Part Ⅰ

This special issue is dedicated to Professor Zdenek Bittnar, one of the leading specialists in computational mechanics in the Czech Republic, on the occasion of his seventieth birthday. Everyone who knows Zdenek and has worked with him, is probably surprised by this anniversary because of his enthusiasm and the current number of his activities. Zdenek Bittnar was born in the small town of Machov in East Bohemia on 24th April 1943. He studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague from 1961 to 1966.
