Editorial of - 'Special Issue: Civil-Comp'

This special issue includes eleven extended, reviewed and revised papers originally presented at the The Fourteenth International Conference on Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Computing (Civil-Comp 2013) and the Third International Conference on Soft Computing Technology in Civil Structural and Environmental Engineering (Civil-Soft-Comp 2013) held concurrently in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy from 3-6 September 2013. The Civil-Soft-Comp 2013 Young Researcher Best Paper Prize was presented to Dr Gaofeng Jia from the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering & Earth Sciences, University of Notre Dame, USA for his paper entitled "Non-parametric stochastic subset optimization utilizing multivariate boundary kernels and adaptive stochastic sampling", written with Professor A. Taflanidis. Their paper appears first in this special issue of Advances in Engineering Software. We would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the Editorial Board who judged this Prize.
