Editorial

摘要

This special issue includes nine extended, reviewed and revised papers originally presented at PARENG 2013: The Third International Conference on Parallel, Distributed, Grid and Cloud Computing For Engineering held at the Pollack Mihaly Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Pecs, Hungary, 25-27 March 2013. We are grateful to the Dean of the Pollack Mihaly Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Dr. Balint Bachmann, for his support and encouragement of this conference series, the first of which was held at the Faculty in 2009. We were also pleased to hold the 2013 conference in Pecs, where the University inaugurated in 2012 their Janos Szentdgothai Scientific Research Centre, a new facility for research in both science and engineering. The University also opened a new High Performance Computing Centre in 2012. These developments provide a focus for the development of new and continuing research themes in science and engineering, while also encouraging new interdisciplinary synergy based on high performance computing.
