There's Nothing Quite as Practical as Good Research

We venture that Lewin's well-cited quote, that"... there is nothing as practical as good theory" (1945, as cited in Whetten, 2002, p. 45), is as true for research as it is for theory! As Whetten points out, in the context of theory development, this proposition underscores two important elements to good research, namely, that (a) ". . . [research] is practical-it is useful in guiding practice" and (b) ". . . only good [research] is practical-bad [research] is often dysfunctional, and even harmful."
