ACRL DRAWS RECORD-BREAKING ATTENDANCE

Some 5312 librarians, exhibitors, speakers, and guests met from March 30-April 2 in Philadelphia and online for the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) 2011 Conference. Total registration was 23 percent above the 4321 attendees in Seattle in 2009 and 11 percent above the 4784 who attended in Baltimore in 2007. ACRL 2011 had the highest combined registrant participation ever, with 3087 face-to-face and 446 virtual attendees, for a total of 3533. Exhibitor registration this year was 1372, compared with 1061 and 1263 in Seattle and Baltimore, respectively. Themed "A Declaration of Interdependence," the conference offered more than 300 programs that explored the interdependency that exists in academic library communities and the changing nature and role of academic and research librarians.
