The first issue of the year marks an important milestone forrnour journal: this week it is exactly 5 years ago that AdvancedrnOptical Materials saw the light of day as an independent title,rnafter being published as a special focus section in AdvancedrnMaterials during 2012. We would therefore like to take thisrnopportunity to thank all of our authors, reviewers, readers, andrnof course our 40 esteemed board members, for the countlessrntimes they have helped us as editors to build Advanced OpticalrnMaterials into the journal that it is today.
