摘要

New and unexpected physical properties that are absent in their individual bulk constituents have triggered intensive research interest in polar oxide heterointerfaces. One sparkling example is the discovery of two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) generated at the interface between two band insulators, LaAlO_3 (LAO) and SrTiO_3 (STO), which has revealed intriguing electronic properties and a rich superconducting phase diagram at low temperature.
