摘要

In recent years, many quaint findings in SrTiO_3 have led to lots of attempts to search for new physics in this material. From the easy formation of the oxygen vacancy (V_o), it is considered that V_o or its complex defects can be intimately related to the rich variety of phenomena observed in SrTiO_3, for instance, the high sheet carrier density at the heterointer-faces with LaAlO_3, blue and green light emission, a para-electric to ferroelectric transition without extrinsic dopants, and a high n-type conductivity. Therefore, fundamental understanding of the properties of V_o itself is an essential prerequisite for establishing the physics of SrTiO_3 and related per-ovskite oxides.
