Virtually in Ruins

摘要

The architectural ruins of Mayan temples are plentiful in Belize. However, because much of the population of Belize is remote, the thousands of cultural treasures of Mayan civilization have been largely unavailable to the very people whose culture created them. Using 3D photography, the Cotsen Institute of Archeology at UCLA has endeavored to create a "virtual museum" of those artifacts so that the people of Belize can regain an integral part of their heritage, and archeologists will have greater access to the artifacts to more closely study Mayan culture.
