Microwave Growth of Nanofibers

Patterns of micrometer-long carbon nanotube fibers can be easily prepared by microwave-assisted selective heating, report a research group in The Netherlands. The microwave in your kitchen works by selectively heating the water in your food. Scientists have harnessed the same principle in high-tech microwave ovens designed for chemical synthesis in order to reducernreaction times and suppress formation of unwanted byproducts.
