摘要

China has made great progress in materials science over the past several decades. Outstanding achievements have been made in many fields of advanced materials, including microelectronic materials, functional synthetic crystals, high-T_c superconduc-tors, nanomaterials, and biomedical materials, etc. These achievements have improved people's living standards and offered a great contribution to the increasing National GDP. The Chinese government has steadily increased financial sup-port for materials researches. NSFC plays a very important role in promoting the development of materials science in China.
