摘要

Effective collaboration and systems integration play a vital role in achieving better productivity in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. The fragmented characteristic of AEC industry makes it very difficult to fully benefit from applying the recent advanced ICT developments, like what automobile and airplane industries have succeeded in collaborative and integrated design and manufacturing. The Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Cloud Computing have the potential to revolutionarily overcome the above mentioned problems, and from the authors' point of view, the efficient distributed data management is the very important element for successful collaboration and integration in AEC industry.
