摘要

Digital technologies have fundamentally changed the architecture, engineering, and construction industry since the 1960s. Driven by sustained advances and diffusion of hardware and software, this transformation is likely to continue, perhaps even in accelerated fashion, towards improving the quality of the built environment as well as the industry's productivity and safety. The papers included in this Special Issue reflect these developments. They provide an impression of how knowledge-based digital technologies may be leveraged to improve planning and design processes, the effectiveness and safety of construction operations, or to raise users' awareness of energy use related to their daily routines.
