The grab is one of the oldest of cargo handling technologies, yet it keeps managing to reinvent itself and secure new orders in the face of seemingly more sophisticated handling systems. Even with the imposition of stricter environmental regulations in ports around the world, the grab has still fought off competition from the continuous ship unloader (CSU) which, on the face it, would seem to minimise dust emission more effectively.
