摘要

In May 2007, Stephanie Wright and Lynda S. White surveyed 73 libraries on the current state of library assessment for the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). This survey provides a broad perspective on the different ways libraries approach assessment and what needs to be done to make it a regular part of library work. Some key questions included which assessment methods were used by libraries, why libraries choose to assess, and what parts of the library are assessed. Wright and White found that most libraries are using surveys to assess their work, with, most frequently, the reason being a "desire to know more about customers."
